Kennedy Woods Prairie/Savanna Restoration Progress

These two photos show the change between the first and second year of the project. As the native plants get established, their presence becomes easier to see throughout the restoration area.

The first photo was taken in 1999. In the background a cluster of tickseed sunflower (Bidens aristosa) is visible, but most of the area is still dominated by grasses.

The second photo was taken 15 July 2000. It had to be taken from several steps forward relative the previous photo. There was so much plant growth that the view was blocked!

Notice how the restoration area is now filled with Black-Eyed Susans and other flowers, where before it was only grass.
